Andrea was brought up in Ventura and has been teaching yoga the last 17 years in Hawaii, California and Mexico. Along with her yoga practice she has deeply immersed herself in her passion for healing arts and health and has a professional background and certifications in Pilates, personal training and exercise science, thai massage therapy, Ayurvedic nutrition and therapies, and a BA in biological anthropology from UCSD and a masters in Asian studies with a focus in health and ecology from Univ of Hawai'i. She has spent over a decade guiding international surf, yoga and fitness retreats and working as a senior yoga teacher, body worker, and nutritional guide and chef guiding wellness and healing experiences in world renowned retreat centers with groups and private clients. She has recently returned to her hometown of Ventura and is inspired to connect and give back to the community where she is grateful to have established her roots. Her classes are fluid and dynamic and will offer the practitioner of any level the chance to challenge themselves physically and mentally while at the same time bringing a sense of restoration, ease, strength and balance. Group classes are suited for beginners and advanced practitioners. Andrea's practice and teachings are informed by her love of and connection with the ocean and nature. Her main influence and form of personal practice is a unique form of yoga called Shadow Yoga founded by Zhander Remete, in which she will incorporate elements of into her group classes. Her main teacher is Matt Pesendian and she feels blessed to have had the opportunity to study and practice under many other wonderful and influential teachers throughout the years.
